Images in marble “On a block of marble, I draw the first lines, these are the starting point for freeing a shape in the stone. The precision with which these lines are developed is of great importance to me, your eye must be able to sail along the line and not be interrupted by deviations in its curve.”

Nancy Hoogstad (NL 1974) creates marble sculptures with a wink. The forms in stone are organic, with, among other things, humans, nature, and personal life experience as a starting point. Narrative elements are often recognizable, with themes such as life, death, sexuality, relationships and role patterns, dreams, and desires. Her work includes, among other things, body elements in which abstracted forms, inspired by the human body, can be recognized.
