Look differently
Rob van Es

Rob van Es is a Delft artist with a studio in the Bacinol building. He makes stencil prints in bright colors and uses a microscope to take photos of plant slices at cell level. Those two things don't seem to have anything to do with each other. Yet there are similarities. Both art forms are about beauty and respect for form. The content (what the image means) is less important.

It is the shape and color that fascinates, creates tension and raises questions. With art and botanical microscopy as Rob sees it, we enter a world of form and color that is derived from what we know, but that forms a reality all its own. It's not about what you know, it's about what you see. So look differently.

Rob regularly exhibits stencil prints and microscopy photos. He also gives workshops in both disciplines.
